I worked as a Consultant specialising in Adolescent Psychiatry since 2003 at Sunderland Child & Family Department. My interests include early intervention in psychosis, Looked After Children and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I developed an interest in Eating Disorders through my clinical experience as a Consultant.
When all the South of Tyne Services went out to tender and NTW successfully bid to create a new single service, I took up the post of Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist for the South of Tyne Eating Disorder Team. I set up and developed the service and despite the many changes in the wider service, including staff changes, the Eating Disorders team has remained stable and cohesive and has continued to meet the needs of our patients.
We offer intensive treatment as required and retain clinical responsibility for patients from initial assessment through to discharge when fully recovered.
