I qualified in Medicine and Surgery from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt in 1986.
I completed my original training in Psychiatry at Abbasia Psychiatric Hospital, which is the main Psychiatric Hospital in Egypt.
In 1992 and finished a Master Degree in Psychiatry and Neurology from the same university. In 1995, I arrived in the UK and completed four years of basic training in the South of England. In 1999, I worked as a forensic Staff Grade in East Sussex for six years. I finished my MRCPsych in 2004 and had my higher psychiatric training in the North East of England and became a Consultant Psychiatrist Learning Disabilities in 2009 where I am based in South Tyneside, Tyne and Wear.
As well as my work in Learning Disabilities, I am part of the Autism Diagnostic Team. I was involved in setting up a Joint Epilepsy Learning Disability Clinic for two years between 2013-2015.
