I am a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist specialising in the psychiatric aspects of epilepsy in Newcastle for 14 years. I am a member of the British Neuropsychiatry Association and was Chair of the Epilepsy Subgroup of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Special Interest Group in Neuropsychiatry. I lead the Mental Health Work Stream of the Epilepsy Interest Group in the North East of England.
I previously trained at the Burden Centre for Neuropsychiatry in Bristol and was a Clinical Lecturer in Neuropsychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry and worked with Professor Michael Trimble in the neuropsychiatry of epilepsy at the National Hospital, Queen Square.
I have published widely and lectured both nationally and internationally on the neuropsychiatric aspects of epilepsy.
I was awarded the Young Physicians Gowers’ Prize for epilepsy and a distinction in the MSc in Epileptology in 1997.
