Qualified in Liverpool; background prior to specialising in rehabilitation medicine included various aspects of paediatrics, qualifying in general practice; developed transition service for young adults with neurological problems leaving paediatric services.
Post specialist work (Liverpool) included:
Establishing multi-disciplinary community neurological rehabilitation service, (including service to address sex and relationship concerns); Service lead and clinical Rehabilitation Medicine input to multi-disciplinary in-patient acquired brain injury unit for patients with cognitive/behavioral problems.
Moved to Newcastle (2004) present role:
Establish and maintain outreach and domiciliary rehabilitation medicine clinics in County Durham; Offer sex and relationship clinic (SARC) for issues related to neurological damage ( based at Walkergate Park); Contribute rehabilitation medicine to multi-disciplinary outpatient and community service for long term, complex neurological disability management.
Contribute rehabilitation medicine to in-patient management of patients with cognitive/behavioral problems following acquired brain injury. (Ward 1. Walkergate Park).
Contribute rehabilitation medicine advice to specialist community nursing home;
Clinical lead (neurorehabilitation) to North of England Strategic Clinical Network (Jan 2014-June 2016).
Member of Programme Management Board for multicenter research into transition of young people from pediatric to adult services.
