I am the Lead consultant in the Forensic Community Mental Health Team and at Westbridge. The FCMHT provides advice to other mental health teams about mentally ill patients, who have been assessed as posing a significant risk to others or who are thought to do so and require further assessment. We also provide care to patients who continue to require specialist risk assessment and management (predominantly who have been discharged into the community via secure wards). Westbridge supported accommodation is a community rehabilitation resource with a dedicated part of the FCMHT working into it in partnership with Tyne housing. The majority of referrals are of individuals who have had lengthy secure inpatient stays. We are able to offer high levels of supervision and support, help individuals to develop their skills and support networks further in the community and subsequently safely move to greater independence in the community.
I bring the experience of having worked in a variety of different forensic settings during my career, including for a number of years as a consultant on a medium secure rehabilitation ward at St Nicholas Hospital.
