I am a part-time Consultant Psychiatrist working within the North East Mental Health and Deafness Team.
This service is a partnership with the TEWV NHS Trust and covers all of the NTW area, and the TEWV area down to, and including, Teesside. We work alongside local mental health teams to provide services for Deaf people with mental health problems aged 18 or above. Although our target group is deaf British Sign Language users, we are happy to discuss other referrals.
In the past, I have also worked as a General Practitioner, in both mainstream and innovative practices. I have particular experience in providing primary care for homeless people, asylum seekers and travelling families.
I regularly teach colleagues about Mental Health and Deafness, and medical students on Transcultural Psychiatry.
