I worked as Lead Psychiatrist and Medical Psychotherapist in the Regional Department of Psychotherapy specialising in Personality Disorder Service between 2003 and 2013.
I developed the field of Forensic Psychotherapy in Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust in 2004 offering external input to neighbouring Trusts and prison services.
I was Training Programme Director in Psychotherapy between 2011 and 2013.
In 2014, I developed a local training for doctors in integrated Forensic Psychotherapy to meet higher training competencies. In 2015 the integrated Forensic Psychotherapy training is also offered externally to multi-professionals.
I am approved as a Higher Trainer in Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Forensic Psychiatry (latter approved in 2015).
I have been the Lead Psychiatrist and responsible clinician in medium Personality Disorder secure service since 2013, with the task of restructuring the strategic delivery of the service in line with new commissioning arrangements to function as one of three national hospital-based services in the offender personality disorder pathway.
I have run a small private practice as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist to ensure I maintain my expertise.
I have conducted an RCT in group therapy in borderline personality disorder and published peer-reviewed articles. I continue to prepare papers with colleague in developing understanding in working with complexity, dangerousness and perversions.
