I qualified in Medicine from University College Dublin, and trained in psychiatry in Ireland, Australia and Cambridge. I completed a Masters Degree in research there, looking at cognitive function in bipolar disorder. I moved to Northumberland in 2006 to take up a Consultant post, and have worked in various parts of Northumberland psychiatric services for older people since then. I was Lead Consultant for the service from 2012 to 2015.
I currently cover Ashington, Bedlington and surrounding areas. I am involved in training on the Broad-Based Training scheme as well as for higher trainees in old age psychiatry. I am currently Finance Officer for the Royal College of Psychiatrists Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry.
