I have been a Specialty Doctor in Forensic Learning Disability Services since August 2014 at the Northgate Hospital Secure Units. Prior to that, I have worked for NTW in various other disciplines as a junior doctor. These have included Working Age Adult Services, Old Age Psychiatry, Crisis Services (Newcastle and Northumberland), Eating Disorders, Psychotherapy, and Children Learning Disability Services.
I am currently part of an MDT which looks after forensic patients with a learning disability. My clinical duties revolve around the delivery of psychiatric care of service users on a low secure ward as well as on a locked rehab ward.
I am also actively involved in Section renewals and Mental Health Tribunals. I am Section 12 approved and occasionally participate in Mental Health Act assessments.
I have obtained my membership through the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2017 and I am intending to pursue further training at an ST level in General Adult Psychiatry.
