Northgate Hospital has many different buildings that all house different services. It is home to a wide range of departments, including the Mitford unit for adults with an autism spectrum disorder.
If you would like help to find your way around Northgate, you can speak to staff when you arrive. There are many signs around the site and you can also download a PDF map.
Northgate provides a range of clinical services, including:
- Medium and Low Secure
- Rehabilitation and Day Services
- Mental Health
- Autism Services
- Assessment and Treatment for patients with learning disabilities
- Northumberland Head Injury Service

What else is at Northgate?
In 2016 we opened the new Mitford unit. You can take a video tour of the Mitford unit on the Chronicle Live website.
There is a cafe at the hospital, Cafe Andrew. It opens at 8am and breakfast is served until 10.30am. Lunch is served from 11.45am until 1.45pm. After that the cafe shuts until 2.30pm, but is then re-opened until 5pm.
