NHS staff are celebrating after being shortlisted for a prestigious HR and people management award.
Staff at Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (NTW), a provider of mental health and disability services have been shortlisted for a CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) North East HR&D Awards in the excellence in organisational development category.
We have worked extremely hard to move towards a devolved model of collective leadership. We know that an engaged and motivated workforce delivers better patient care and better outcomes for our patients, which was at the very heart of all of our work. I’m delighted that our hard work has been recognised at this level.Lynne ShawActing Executive Director of Workforce
The CIPD HR&D awards, now in their 12th year recognise and celebrate HR&D achievements and acknowledge the value that HR&D can make in improving work and working lives in an organisation.
NTW have been shortlisted for their work in moving from a traditional centralised model to a one of devolution, empowerment and collective leadership. The aim was to move towards a structure where decisions could be made as near as possible to patients with the guiding principle that everything should be driven by and through collective leadership structures.
To do this NTW implemented a three stage approach which was to prepare for change, action the change and then support its implementation and embedding.
The winners will be announced at a gala awards dinner at the Newcastle Marriott Hotel in Gosforth Park on Thursday 21 June.
