Section 48 – Transfer to hospital of an unsentenced prisoner (with or without restrictions)

This leaflet has been produced to provide information to people who have been transferred to hospital and are an unsentenced prisoner. It include information about why you are in hospital, what a restriction direction, how long you will be there and what happens if you have to go back to court.

Section 5(2) – Detention of patients already in hospital

This leaflet has been produced to provide information to people who are already a patient and are being detained. It includes information about why you cannot leave hospital, how long you could be there, what will happen next and your rights to appeal.

Section 5(4) – Nurses power to detain

This leaflet has been produced to provide information to people about nurses' power to detain a person being treated for mental disorder as a hospital in-patient. It includes information about why you cannot leave hospital, how long you can be kept there and what will happen during this time.

Self-Harm – an NHS self help guide

This booklet is for people who deliberately harm themselves and are unhappy about it. It is also for family and friends who may have difficulty understanding this behaviour. People who have experience of harming themselves have contributed to the writing of this booklet. It offers self help advice. However, anyone who self-harms should also see their GP (Family Doctor).
