The Community Aspergers Support Team (CAST) provide a specialist community service for adults with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder with an IQ of 70 or above (or Asperger’s Syndrome). The team consists of four support workers who are supervised by a clinical team lead and a clinical specialist. There is also support and advice available from a nurse consultant.
The team operates predominantly 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday; however, variance on these hours is dependent on client need. The team works with clients to promote positive mental health and offer needs lead specialist interventions for people with an IQ of 70 or above, an Autism diagnosis and co-occurring mental health condition.
The service requires that the patient is actively involved with a care co-ordinator or care manager throughout the episode of care from CAST. Referrals are accepted by these professionals.
